This is an old revision of the document!
The proposed amendment to the Narcotics Act provides that cannabis medicinal products may in future be prescribed without an exceptional authorisation from the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH).
Status: The referendum deadline expired on July 8, 2021. The Federal Council must now adopt the relevant ordinances, after which this amendment to the law can enter into force (probably in 2022).
After that, an exciting phase lasting several years will begin in which these new possibilities will be explored and evaluated. However, as long as the health insurance companies do not pay for such cannabis medicines (this will be discussed further in the coming years), only a few sick people will be able to afford these preparations.
